Grand Opening:
The Collaborative Food Hub
We’re so thrilled to share about this manifestation of many years of dreaming of bringing farm-to-table goodness to more of our neighbors. The Collaborative Food Hub is opening this month and is led by APIFM, Hollywood Food Coalition, Sunrise Organic Farm, and Polo’s Pantry. From recovering food, sourcing organic produce, connecting farmers directly to buyers, minimizing transportation and storage costs along the supply chain, to distributing healthy food to the people, this hub is building a more just and resilient food system in LA.
Based in Glassell Park, we got a chance to check out the grand opening celebration in April and it was beautiful to see so many food equity groups come together to celebrate this milestone! Leaders from the partners behind the hub spoke on what this means, and Polo’s Pantry Founder, Melissa Acedera, shared: “We work with the most vulnerable populations like our unhoused, unsheltered, and farmworkers… what’s amazing about this space is that it’s really a dream come true. The fact that we’re working with Sunrise and farmers, the fact that we’re bringing healthy produce that is grown well to communities is important."
Thank you Home-ys for continuing to show up for our neighbors and communities!
