General Safety
Do not volunteer if you are feeling ill! Keep our community safe by letting us know immediately if you were scheduled, but aren’t feeling well.
Coronavirus is fragile and easily destroyed by hand soap, disinfectant wipes, and cleaning sprays.
Our Guiding Principles
Serve with joy.
Everyone can be of service and being of service is a good time! Mix these attitudes, be mindful of your boundaries, treat mutual aid like a practice, and discover a sustainable path towards social justice.
We’re all connected.
Moving in wonder and with gratitude. Just think about all the hands involved since Covid-19 first struck and this idea was born. Hands that created spreadsheets, sprinkled seasonings, transported bags, and posted IG stories. People power is what makes this whole thing work!
Spread love.
We’re all trying our best. All the time, these days especially, a little compassion goes a long way. Imagine participating as if you’re making meals or driving errands for a dear friend. A homey! This work is about more than meals; together, we’re practicing deeply caring for one another.
Tips for Chefs
There is no refrigeration between pickup and distribution, neither is there microwave access at drop-off locations.
After meals leave your home, they’re driven to the drop-off location and then distributed to be eaten typically within 4 hours.
The ideal meal is as nutrient-dense and non-perishable as possible, consisting of a main, snack(s), drink, and utensils (if needed). Check out this article for some examples!

Tips for Drivers
Communicate & spread love not germs!
Use the day before pickup to confirm with chefs and double-check directions.
Chefs will be ready for you, reach out when you’re on your way with an update on your estimated arrival time.
Mask up, hand-sanitize, and minimize contact when you exchange. This doesn’t mean you can’t take a moment to get to know your homey though. You already have one thing in common - you’re both helpers!
