Traveling with Harley

As the heat wave swept in on June 22nd, we found some shade at Griffith Park where we traversed the multiverse during the live, multisensory reading of Adventures of Harley. Created by Jordan (HMM Chef) and Remo (HMM Driver), this book takes place at the start of the pandemic in 2020. Harley, the handsome and magical bulldog who travels the multiverse through meditation, encounters a mysterious and powerful being played by Melanie (HMM Chef). This magical being signified by the sound of a flute guides Harley on his journey to heal his human’s world.

From Harley’s adventures, we see the world and people in it slowly heal through unconditional love, reconnecting with Mother Earth, and surrendering to the flow of life. This could not have been better represented by the unity of people touched by Harley’s magic at this reading. Akin to Harley’s purpose and role as a bridge between multi-verses, Home-y Made Meals has been walking a parallel path in bridging the housed and unhoused communities through homemade meals. There’s no doubt that some of our meals have been sprinkled with Harley’s pixie dust as he accompanied Jordan, his human companion, during meal preparations. 

While we continue to walk alongside Harley in his spiritual form, we remember our yearning to replenish the world with joy one step at a time.
